HEALTH CHECK FOR LASH ARTISTS

We all know the importance of lash adhesive when it comes to our work. But you know what’s even more important? YOUR HEALTH and educating yourself on the health issues surrounding lash adhesive and what you can do to protect yourself and your client.
Inhaling the fumes from lash adhesive can result in many side effects. Lash adhesive is made up of a bunch of chemicals - two of which can seriously impact your health. Cyanoacrylate- this class of compounds is used for quick setting adhesive, having a drying time of 1-2 seconds is because it’s got cyanoacrylate in it.
Formaldehyde isn’t an active ingredient in the lash adhesive itself but it is formed when the glue dries. You may see products that are ‘formaldehyde free’ but really, any lash glue that has cyanoacrylate in it will realise formaldehyde when hardened.
Acting as a by product formaldehyde can cause nasty side effects such as; headaches, dry or itchy eyes, allergies if it touches the skin, respiratory irritation (eyes, nose, throat and lungs) difficulty breathing, nausea and flu-like symptoms (exhaustion, stuffy nose, sluggishness)
Us lash artists are constantly working around harsh chemicals, if you don’t already you NEED this dracaena/'snake plant' in your lash room! they’re natural air purifiers, super easy to take care of all they need is sunlight and a little water💧
